Anyway. This journal is dead. This is all for a number of reasons some intensely personal and some not so much. Maybe this was a decision that was long overdue. I’m not the same person I was (thank god) when I started this, there’s baggage and expectations on myself for all this, and it’s like growing out of a winter coat. Also, I realized fandom wasn’t for me. This isn’t a “I’m too grown up!” thing or whatever it’s just, my own happiness and sanity needs me to not be involved at all. I’ve realized it works best that way. No one’s making me “leave” and this is something I’ve pondered and felt out; it’s what I know will work best.

Nothing will be deleted. Nothing regretted (well, except for the McFlurry I just *had* to eat. Oh, self)

1) I am often impressed by the super bendy contortionist moves people will make to avoid discussing race (or other icky issues that make them uncomfortable). Jesus, yoga pays off, huh?

2) The counselor in me is a firm believer that much of the time you can catch more flies with honey; however, many times when confronted with the massive – often willing – stupidity of the universe you just *have* to get your bitchface on. In the face of willing stupidity, tone matters far less than *getting the damn point across*. This can often require strong language and things that might make you feel uncomfortable (and if it’s making you uncomfortable, instead of getting all angry about it, ask yourself why it makes you uneasy).

Not only that, but if someone is angry enough about something that their tone is all, you know, ANGRY maybe there’s a reason for that. Maybe, just maybe, what has gone on has caused them some genuine offense of distress. Maybe, *their* feelings were hurt. It’s easy to get wrapped up in one’s own thoughts and feelings and not take the moment to go, “Okay, this person’s “tone” is all angry, so they must be upset about something. Let me think about that and actually try to see where they’re coming from” In other words: empathy, motherfucker, do you have it?!

(And I don’t have to state the really obvious thing about how, “Well, she said it, but why’d she have to say it like that?!” thing is a very common cliché argument to deny people a genuine “voice”. Right? Except I did. Okay, whatever).
